︎︎︎ Heaven to a Tortured Millennial
A digital production complex for digital natives.
Link
With the advancement in technology, production has swiftly changed from agricultural and manual production to industrial production to digital production of today. In the age of laptops, portable devices that connect to the internet with a basic need to plug to the electricity, the crucial part for digital production is to have access to the transportation modes. This is a heaven to a tortured millennial because they can work as much as the market wants and still connect to the transportation which will take them to their overpriced rented apartments. This creates neither a dystopia nor an utopia; but a more probable future it is expected to see coming.
The viaduct was deconstructed, and examined perpendicularly and horizontally to find spatial voids which can be penetrated or create a void. In the current age where digital production is a part of daily life practises, Heaven to a Tortured Millennial is speculated as mutual living complex penetrating into the viaduct which belongs to the traditional masculine transportation network spaces. The name, influenced by Yves Tumor’s Heaven to a Tortured Mind album, is designated as Heaven to a Tortured Millennial because Generation Y, so called digital natives as subjects in digital production cannot find a response to their physical needs in the traditional spatial configurations. The project is visioned as a complex trying to fulfill the needs of Generation Y and working mutually with different modes of transportation.
